Swim 21
Chichester Cormorants has just gained Swim 21 status. Swim 21 Accreditation is a ‘QUALITY MARK’ recognized both nationally and regionally in clubs that are committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefits of their swimmers. It is the ASA’s Club Development Model-a planning tool based on the principles of Long Term Athlete Development enabling clubs to help athletes, teachers, coaches and administrators to achieve their full potential. It focuses mainly on the needs of the athletes striving to provide them with the best possible support and environment.
Swim 21 is available to all ASA clubs of all disciplines that are positioned at one or more of the four levels of teaching, skill development, competitive development and performance.

New Club Website
The Club has now managed to create a new website which will be up and running hopefully by June 1st. This will be open to all members who would like to contribute any news or interesting topics and will be open to suggestions. There will be more information on the website such as newsletters, gala information, results, records, swim school, junior squad, development squad, masters, schools gala, links and any other useful information.

Club Colours
All swimmers have the responsibility to wear the club colours which are blue and yellow. The kit can be bought at the desk at Westgate on a Friday evening. Please ensure you wear the right kit as this is an important part of the swimming clubs professionalism and team spirit.
CLUB COLOURS MUST BE WORN AT GALAS AND OPEN MEETS.

Club Questionnaire
A club survey is a good way to find out how swimmers feel about the club. Therefore a questionnaire is going to be handed out to all swimmers within the club so that we can get some useful information on how we can improve the club and to give you the chance of telling us what things you would like to change. This is designed solely to get a true reflection of any expectations you have. Please take a few minutes to answer the questions and when you have completed it there will be a box situated at the registration desk for you to pop it in. Alternatively hand it to a member of the committee. The final day for returning the questionnaire form is  MAY 30TH.

Signing in to Register
EVERYONE WHO SWIMS ON A FRIDAY AND MONDAY, MUST SIGN IN AT THE REGISTRATION DESK BEFORE THEY SWIM.
THE WESTGATE MUST HAVE A NOTE OF ALL SWIMMERS WHO ARE WITHIN THE BUILDING FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS AND EVERY PERSON MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR WHETHER THERE MIGHT BE AN EMERGENCY. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET AS YOU MIGHT BE THE FOGOTTEN ONE AND MIGHT CAUSE AN UNNECESSARY AMOUNT OF TIME TO EVERYONE ELSE.

Club Bags

There are new club rucksacks and holdalls available to purchase at very reasonable prices at the registration desk at the Westgate These will be in club colours and will be very useful when swimming at galas and open meets. Please see one of the girls behind the desk for any further information.

Sussex County Championships

Nine swimmers took part in the Sussex County Championships held at K2 Crawley in February and March this year. There was some very good PBs by all the swimmers taking part, Ross Legg, Alexander Lill, Ben Lyon, Izzak Rosser, Rory Sellwood, Anna Turner, Jacob West and Molly Whatmore. George Laney achieved a regional time.
This was superb effort by all of them under what was some very tough competitive clubs.
Hopefully more swimmers will be able to achieve county times and swim next year due to the increasing hard work put in by the swimmers and the coaches,

WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU

Schools Gala

The annual schools gala was held at the Westgate Leisure Centre a couple of weeks ago where five schools from the Chichester area took part, Jessie Younghusband, Central, Bosham, Slindon, Parklands and West Dean. The swimmers put on a fantastic show and the noise was almost unbearably loud in what was an exciting all round gala. Jessie Younghusband just beat Central to win the trophy which was presented to them by the Mayor of Chichester accompanied by the Chairman of Chichester Cormorants, Chris Levitt. All swimmers won rosettes and these were handed out by Alex Lill and Sophia Laney Junior Captains.
